Winter Hiking and Tobogganing
The stunning Stubaital valley is Tyrol's premier destination for all toboggan enthusiasts with a total of 43 kilometres of tracks. 12 of the toboggan tracks here have been awarded the Tyrolean seal of quality for natural toboggan tracks. The tracks of the Elfer lifts, called Elfer-Dorf Neustift and Elfer-Pinnistal, are the longest tracks in all of Tyrol at a length of 8 kilometres eachj, and lead you through the charming forests in the snow-covered winter landscape.
A very special ambience is guaranteed while enjoying a night toboggan session at the Elfer-Pinnistal toboggan track, which is illuminated with oil-lamps. A memorable evening is ensured with great tobogganing fun and a delightful evening spent in the charming alpine hut. This popular sport is fantastic fun for all ages and is an absolute highlight for every winter holiday. Depending on your personal preference, you can either choose to take a lovely winter walk up to the starting-off point for your thrilling ride, or you can catch the lift up to the top. Toboggans are very easy to rent and available at various rental services such as sport equipment stores, at the Schlick 2000 ski lifts, the Elfer lifts, the Serlesbahnen ski lifts, and directly at the huts at the start of the toboggan tracks.
Step by step you can walk in the beautiful winter wonderland at your own pace and enjoy the unique tranquillity of the snow-covered landscape. Winter and snow-shoe hiking is a truly wonderful experience. Feel the magic and serenity of the calm alpine nature and find true inner peace. The Stubaital valley offers 80 kilometres of winter hiking trails with 3 different circuits ranging from 50 minutes to approximately 3 hours of walking time. Charming huts along the way offer a delightful opportunity for you to go for a quick snack or enjoy a warm drink.
